About Warra Warra Kanyi 

Warra Warra Kanyi (WWK) is a bi-cultural counselling, case management and mentoring service that operates within a trauma informed, community development framework. There is also a crisis response element to this service. This program services young people and their families who are aged 16+.

The aim of this program is to provide intensive case management and counselling to Warlpiri young people who are having challenges with regards to their mental health, substance use, justice issues and any other psycho social issue that is a barrier to their development and well being.

About the Opportunity 

WYDAC is now seeking a Senior Social Worker / Case Manager to take on the position of WWK Coordinator.

This pivotal role will see you primarily responsible for the management of the WWK Case Management and Mentoring Program in Yuendumu, NT.

Reporting to the General Manager, Youth and Family Services, and the WYDAC Board, some of your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Conducting fortnightly case reviews with WWK counsellors / case managers;
  • Ensuring all counselling and case management practice across WWK is in line with all legal mandates and internal WYDAC policy;
  • Supporting WWK to grow Warlpiri mentors, increasing in capacity and numbers;
  • Managing on-call roster/staffing;
  • Ensuring that training and staff development is being identified and supported;
  • Working closely with the Outstation Coordinator to ensure appropriate access to Outstation services; and
  • Carrying out appropriate administration and resource building activities as required.

About You

The successful candidate will hold tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or similar, alongside demonstrated experience in a community development context and a human rights approach to your work.

Due to the nature of the role, WYDAC is seeking someone with experience in the coordination/management of a multidisciplinary team, coupled with a background in community based case management and maintenance of client notes/records.

An understanding and experience in working within cross-cultural environments, and an awareness of capacity building principles delivered in a remote Indigenous context, will be crucial to your success. Experience in domestic violence, AOD, trauma, and/or youth justice will also be a key requirement.

Your demonstrated capacity for resourcefulness, self-motivation and independent decision-making will be pivotal to your success, as will your exceptional communication and negotiation skills, including your ability to foster effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

A current Driver's License, Criminal History Check and Working with Children clearance (Ochre Card) will be required prior to commencement.
